My Story
Dr. Manning, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
Known just as A. to her friends had been a lifelong runner and athlete, when I was 21 a Doctor very casually me I had high cholesterol... My initial reaction...WTF??? I had competed in several races and prided myself in outdoor activities and dancing.

I made the bold + sudden decision after adopting my 1st daughter to give up meat...cold turkey. No pun intended. It was not long after my weight crept up and more importantly, the things I loved to do, no longer interested me. Dancing, nah! Travel, not interested.
Several years later, I was diagnosed with dysthymia, a low-level, high-functioning type of depression. Like, traditional medicine treatment guidelines, I was put on anti-depressants. I immediately researched and collaborated with other practitioners to find other solutions.
"There had to be another way"- Dr. A

That's when I discovered functional and holistic medicine. Its theory aligned to my own ideologies that the body is designed to heal and cure itself given the correct environment. So, I radically changed my diet, focused on grounding techniques, became more intentional about my workouts, spent time in nature, and even discovered reiki. What I discovered was it was my gut and brain were inflamed. I began using food as medicine, weened off my prescription and have been symptom free since.
Functional and Holistic medicine, literally saved my life. I believe in it so much I started a Holistic and Integrative Primary Care Practice in 2017. It now exists as a practice dedicated for women are like me, go-getters, high functioning women who want a solution that exists outside of a pill, while working with , not against our bodies natural rhythm.
