My Story

Hey! I'm Amber!

My friends call me "A". Some of my clients call me  Dr. A, three little people at home call me mommy and my military-spouse calls me wifey. Whatever you call me, just don't call me late to eat :)

My story begins in my early 20s.

After a pretty serious car accident during my workup, was notified that my cholesterol was over 200. How could this be?? I was a avid runner, thin frame, and ate pretty healthy (or so I thought). Fast forward a few years later, after becoming a mom I gave up meat and switched over to pescatarian lifestyle. But, after becoming a mom for the second time via guardianship and the baby being very, very ill even to the point she was hospitalized, I became more interested in how diet affected the onset of disease and how we could not just stop it, but reverse it. I employed some evidenced-based techniques of diet change, exercise, and supplements on the little baby who had recurrent pneumonia, diagnosed with asthma, and subsequently had so poor heart function she couldn't even run as a toddler. Today, that child is a thriving 2nd grader who runs a 9-min mile and rarely gets sick. I was even able to cure my depression using a food as medicine approach and intentional exercise.

It wasn't until 2017 when I decided to take what I learned and heal people at a much larger scale. I was one of the first Nurse Practitioners in Delaware to be granted independent licensure and opened my practice doing home visits focusing on wellness and diet. Eventually, I opened a primary care practice focusing on wellness, weight loss, curing obesity. My first patients were my own family; aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. But amid the pandemic, our practice had to change directions and we converted to a virtual-only practice. One thing remained constant, the passion to help not just treat someone for high blood pressure or prescribe medicine for depression, but to cure it completely with food, intentionality through spiritual grounding, and empowerment.

My name is Dr. Amber Manning, DNP, APRN, FNP-C board certified Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of health care experience. I am certified in obesity and weight management and have additional training in functional and holistic medicine. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, dancing, a glass of red-wine never missed me :) and love to hang out with my family. My friends call me "A". Some of my clients call me  Dr. A, three little people at home call me mommy and my military-wife calls me wifey. Whatever you call me, just don't call me late to eat :) Save me a seat at your table!
